Accident Tips

Auto Accident:
Do you know what to do if you are involved in an auto accident?

Review this checklist to be sure.

  1. Stay calm. Make sure your vehicle is out of the way of traffic.
  2. Get the name, phone number, address and driver’s license number of everybody involved. Get contact information for all witnesses, too.
  3. Gather vehicle (make, model, color, plate number/s) for every involved vehicle. If you have a camera, take pictures. The longer you wait, the more likely you will miss important details.
  4. The party`s name, address and phone number if the owner is someone other than the driver.
  5. If you envisage trouble, call the police to file a report.
  6. The specific location of the accident and the identity of the specific authority that responds to the scene (police, highway patrol, Road Safety Officer, fire/rescue) if possible.
  1. Do not admit fault. Let the authorities complete their investigation.
  2. Call Staco Insurance at the telephone number on your insurance card to report the accident as soon as you can.

Property
If a loss occurs:

  1. Take the necessary steps to protect persons from injury.
  2. Contact authorities (fire, police, etc.).
  3. Contact your insurance broker or if unavailable, Staco`s claims response line at 01 7410179. Be sure to leave your policy number and contact information, including cell phone numbers and operable land phone numbers where you can be reached.
  4. Take steps to protect property from further damage. This may include covering holes in the roof or walls and extracting water. Maintain receipts and records of your expenses.
  5. Preserve the loss scene areas by preventing persons, other than public authorities and contractors performing emergency repairs, from entering.
  6. Do not attempt to use electric devices exposed to fire, smoke or water.,/span>
